Williamsport J.A.T.C. is represented by Local Union 812, International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, (I.B.E.W.),
and Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter of National Electrical Contractors Association,
Inc., (N.E.C.A.), and is located at
500 Jordan Avenue, Montoursville, PA 17754
The International Office of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) is located in Washington, D.C., and the Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association, Inc., (N.E.C.A.) , is located in Philadelphia, PA.
The Local 812 Apprenticeship Program is approved and certified by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, in Pennsylvania. The National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (N.J.A.T.C.) developed this program.
This program
consists of 8000 hours of on the job training (OJT), and 900 hours of classroom
instruction (representing 180 hours of classroom instruction yearly). The first
2000 hours of OJT is a probationary period.
This program is
registered with the Department of Education-Veterans/Military Education.
Veterans/Eligible
Dependents, Members of the National Guard & Reserve may qualify for the use
of your (GI Bill
Benefits) for this Apprenticeship Program.
This program is college accredited with 50 semester hours for further advancement. All test are National Standardized.
An Individual who can show that they meet the conditions listed below, after making application for apprenticeship, will be afforded an oral interview by the JATC. . If interviewed, the applicant will be listed among those applicants qualified for selection, for a period of two calendar years from the date of interview.
To be interviewed the applicant must:
A. Be a minimum
of 17 years of age.
B. Be a High
School Graduate, or have a GED, or have a two-year Associate Degree or higher.
C. Show
evidence of successful completion of: one full year of high school algebra with
a passing grade.
D. Provide an
official transcript for High School and post High School education and
training. All GED records must be submitted if applicable.
E. Submit a
DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they are a Veteran and
wish to receive consideration for such training/experience.
F. Qualify for
interview using the Electrical Trade's Aptitude Test developed and validated by
the American Institutes for Research.
G. Present
evidence that they possess a valid Driver's License.
H. Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of interviewed applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
I. Prior to
being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of interviewed applicants
may be required to provide results of a physical examination and a drug test as
decided by the JATC.
J. Individuals
who can verify (proper documentation required) that they have worked a minimum
of eight-thousand (8000) hours specifically in the Electrical Construction
Trade, do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and (C).
K. Individuals
who have worked a minimum of forty-five hundred (4500) hours as a Residential
Wireman under and IBEW/NECA Local Collective Bargaining Agreement (proper
documentation required), do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and
(C).
L. Individuals
who have completed at least 3 years of related instruction and 4500 hours of
OJT as indentured apprentices in a properly registered Electrical Construction
Apprenticeship Program not sponsored by IBEW/NECA (proper documentation
required), do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and (C).
M. Year-round applications (from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.) are accepted on the first Friday of every month.
N. Interviews
are administrated on an as needed basis.
O. A twenty
($20.00) dollar application fee will be charged.

Training
